Club OC1/OC2 Use
New for 2026, your club dues include use of the club OC1 and OC2's once you complete the OC1-2 certification process. It is important for all to understand that with this new policy there are three classifications of paddlers along with corresponding paddling zones.
1. Open paddler, defined as a paddler that has completed one year of competitive outrigger training in a sanctioned SCORA or SCORA equivalent club. Zone includes harbor plus must staying within 1-mile of shore when in open water.
2. Novice paddler, defined as a paddler currently in training with the SBOCC novice team. Zone is within boundaries of the Santa Barbara Harbor not to extend past the last red channel marker near the end of the pier.
3. No-pen paddler (paddler merging from Novice to Open), defined as a paddler that trained with the novice team though the iron season, and is continuing their first year of outrigger team training. Zone includes the harbor and a line out to the 1-mile red navigational buoy. Only exception is when accompanied by an SBOCC coach or assistant coach.
Note; that the only new zone is the Novice paddler zone which is fully within the confined waters within the Santa Barbara Harbor. There is a nice mile long course from the launch site extending down the main channel then out towards the end of the pier and back. Always be aware of potential boat traffic, especially near the public boat ramp and the fuel dock.
ALL MEMBERS who use OC1/OC2 must sign out on google calendar, have gone through certification, and signed the usage agreement. Please read through these instructions:

Novices are not allowed to use club
OC1/2 until the end of Iron Season
with the exception of under Coach
Supervision.

You can use this videos both to get familiar with some of the skills you will learn and also as a refresher.
Once you're approved, you may reserve the crafts using our Google calendar.
To Get OC1/OC2 Certified:
1. Read through Certification Instructions
2. Complete OC1/OC2 Usage Agreement form
3.Complete in person certification with Greg or Maggi
4. Get access to Google Calendar, access to google calendar will be granted after all the above is completed
